About Edith Martin
Edith Martin, 72, of 444 Orchard Road, Mount Joy, died at home Wednesday following a lengthy illness.
She was the wife of Amos K Martin. She was born in West Donegal Twp, a daughter of the late Peter N and Lizzie Landis Gish.
She was a retired teacher having taught in West Chester and Tampa, Florida for the Free Methodist School Mission. She had also served as secretary for the school in Florida and as a Sunday School teacher for various churches in Pennsylvania. She was also instrumental in establishing an Evangelical church in West Chester. She was a member of the Congregational Bible Church, Marietta where she was a former Sunday School teacher.
In addition to her husband she is survived by five sons: Glen, Quarryville; Dale H and Mervin, both of Mount Joy; Donald B, Shippensburg; and Herbert, Holland, Mich; a daughter, Lucille, wife of Clair Wiggins, Lancaster; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, Rev Abram A Gish, Elizabethtown; and three sisters: Esther Gish; Gertrude Gish; and Ruth Kraybill all of Elizabethtown.
