Edith Luella Woodward

ALAMOSA – Edith Luella Crowther Woodward, 90, passed away at the San Luis Valley Medical Center in Alamosa on May 21, 2013.

She was born on December 24, 1922 in Sanford, Colorado to Thomas Orson and Minnie Florence Crowther. She married Clyde Eugene Woodward on January 7, 1944 in Taos, New Mexico and their marriage was later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. She held many positions in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Edith was a bookkeeper for many years for the hospital in Alamosa. Following her retirement she began working for the City of Alamosa Library researching genealogy, a job that she truly loved. She had a very green thumb and could make anything grow.

Edith is survived by her children; Aubrey Clair "Woody" (Dorothy) Woodward of Grand Junction, Colorado, Albert Clyde (Renee) Woodward of West Jordan, Utah and Jeff (Melanie) Woodward of Alamosa, along with her grandchildren; Brian, Jodi, Tanya, Stacie, Kyle, Ryan, Penni, Scott, Brandon and Ashlee as well as 18 great grand children and her brother Evan (Wilma) Crowther of Grantsville, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings; Vera, Raymond, Aletha, Caryl, James, Ed, Jesse and Minnie Ellen as well as her special friend Bill Allen.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Alamosa 3rd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alamosa, located on the corner of 3rd and Richardson. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday May 24, 2013 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa and from 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. in the relief society room at the church prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Sanford Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Alamosa Public Library for genealogy or to the charity of your choice and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
