He lived on a farm north of Herndon until 1967, when they moved to McCook, where he worked for Southwest Bell until 1990.
He served as a Rawlins County Commissioner, director of Tri-State Livestock, was on the Board of Directors for the State Bank of Herndon as well as Herndon Equity and was a country school board member for many years. He was also a 4-H leader and scout leader. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks and St. Mary's Church in Herndon and then St. Patrick's Church in McCook.
