Edna Eileen Bauer

Edna E. Bauer, age 92, of Santa Barbara, California, went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2019.

She was born October 10, 1926 to Bert and Jessie Royer on a farm near Rushmore, Minnesota.

She graduated from Worthington High School in 1944 and Worthington Junior College in 1945. She also attended Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis and Biola College in Los Angeles. Edna moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1949 in order to meet her childhood pen pal. There she met and married Merritt Bauer June 10, 1951 at Pearl Harbor where he was serving in the US Navy.

Edna graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1958 and went on to earn her Master of Arts in Education from UC Berkeley in 1963. Edna taught at Lincoln School in Santa Barbara for one year before teaching in Anchorage, Alaska from 1959 to 1961. A son, John, was born in 1962, and a daughter, Marilyn, was born in 1963. Edna became a top-selling real estate agent with Century 21 in Santa Barbara from 1979 to 1999. After Merritt passed away in 2015, she moved to Vista del Monte Retirement Community where she lived until her death. Edna will always be remembered for her bright smile, generosity, encouraging spirit, love of children, and faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.

She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Merritt Bauer, her parents, Bert and Jessie Royer, and a sister, Luella Muller.

She is survived by her son John (Charlene) Bauer of Leavenworth, KS and daughter Marilyn (Cees) van Zeyl of Carpinteria, CA, grandchildren Sharon (Will) Holmer, Evan Bauer, Kristen Bauer, Calvin (Emily) Bauer, Mattys vanZeyl, and brothers Raymond and Delbert Royer
