About Edna Violet Davis

WILTON -- Edna M. Davis, 100, holder of the Boston Gold Post Cane and resident of Senior Housing Apartments on Eastern Avenue in Wilton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Sandy River Center for Health Care in Farmington, where she had been a resident for 10 days.

She was born Oct. 13, 1907, the daughter of Harold and Matilda (Nickerson) Mason. She married Carl E. Davis in Mount Vernon on Sept. 15, 1927; he died Nov. 3, 1974. They lived on a farm in North Vienna for several years then moved to the Chesterville side of Farmington Falls. She belonged to Union Baptist Church of Farmington Falls, Honorary Deaconess; was a past president of Business and Professional Women's Club; charter member of Wakefield Philathia Club; and past member of the Wilton Day Extension. After her husband's death she moved to the Senior Housing Apartments in Wilton in 1979 where she assisted in rental management. She became a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Dryden and also volunteered for many years as the oldest volunteer at Seniors Plus and at the American Legion Hall. Edna was employed for more than 40 years by Maine Skewer and Dowel Co., first working for them in Vienna and later for the same company in Farmington.

She is survived by her three children, Dorothy E. Perry of Canton, Katherine M. Burbank and her husband, Almond, of Wilton, and Guy F. Davis and his wife, Arlene, of New Vineyard; two sisters, Nellie Howe of Farmington and Linda Hastings of North Vienna; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband and four sisters, Mary Bowie, Madeline Metcalf, Goldie Easter, and Lillian White; five brothers, Ernest Trask, Norman Mason, Hezekiah Mason, and two infant brothers; two infant grandsons, David Almond and Todd Michael Burbank; a great-granddaughter, Stephanie Burbank Hill; and a great-great-grandson, Jacob Aaron Mason.

The family would like to thank the staff of Franklin Memorial Hospital, Sandy River Center for Health Care, and Androscoggin Hospice Group for their loving care and concern for Edna.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Adams-McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington, with the Rev. Barry Trask officiating. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with interment at Fairview Cemetery immediately following.
