About Edna Gingrich
Edna Gingrich, 93, of 552 W. Conestoga St., New Holland, died peacefully Thursday, September 10, 2009 at her home after a brief illness.
Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Frank Z. and Anna (Hoover) Martin. She was the wife of Irvin B Gingrich. They would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Nov. 29.
She worked 20 years at the former Victor F. Weaver Poultry, New Holland. Prior to that she worked at Spring Glen Foods, Ephrata. She also volunteered at Welsh Mt. Home and New Holland Re-Uzit Shop and hosted Fresh Air children for many years.
She was a member of Goodville Mennonite Church where she was active in the sewing circle. She loved the Lord and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had many friends and a great sense of humor. She found great joy in serving others.
Surviving in addition to her husband are seven children, Mildred, married to Charles Wert of Lancaster, Lorraine, married to Amos Hess of Witmer, Carl M., married to Ruth Ann (Eberly) Gingrich of New Holland, Kenneth M., married to Judy (Black) Gingrich of New Holland, Irvin, Jr., married to Marlene (Weaver) Gingrich of Leola, Lois A. Garman of Manheim, and Susan J., married to Nelson Martin of East Earl; 22 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death is a great grandson, Micah Berthold; three brothers, Walter, Frank and Phares Martin; and five sisters, Anna Mae Martin, Lydia Zeiset, Martha Weaver, Stella Zimmerman, and Alta Hoover.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 14 at 2 pm at the Goodville Mennonite Church with the Reverend Bruce Sauder and the Reverend Nelson Martin officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Church from 1-2 pm. There will be a viewing at the close of the funeral service. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Eastern Mennonite Missions, PO Box 458, Salunga, PA 17538-0458. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland, PA.
