About Edward Clarke
Edward Clarke was born in New York, America, and he served in the North American Colonial Regiments.
Lieutenant in Capt. Holland's Independent Company, stationed in NY 22 Feb. 1730/1731. Presented Freedom of Albany, 1738. Commanded a company of Albany Provincials at the taking of Havana under Lord Albemarle in 1762, and for his bravery was made a Major. On retiring from the service, went to Jamaica. Returned to NY in 1772, and then to England.
