The Lawton (Okla.) Constitution Tuesday, April 5, 1977, page 5 EDWARD M. COX Duncan (Staff) – Funeral for Edward M. Cox, 74, a former Lawtonian and a grandson of Comanche Chief Quanah Parker, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Grantham Funeral Home Chapel here. Mr. Cox died at 6 a.m. Monday in a hospital here. Rev. Paul Duncan, minister of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery here. Mr. Cox was the son of Nahmucuh Parker Cox, oldest child of the famed Comanche chief, and Emmet Cox, who operated Cox's Store east of Lawton for many years. He was born Sept. 30, 1902, in Lawton. He was married to Thelma Wilkinson in Chickasha in 1930. He was employed by Halliburton until his retirement in 1966. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, of the home, one son, Quanah Cox, and one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Darter, both of Duncan; two brothers, Bill Cox, Forsythe, Mo., and James Cox, Midwest City; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Lutz, Duncan, and Mrs. Nora Davis, Altus, and six grandchildren.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: May 10 2021, 22:36:28 UTC
