About Edward Darnall

• Note: "Edward Darnoll servant to Mr. Phillip Lynds" (Lynes) "being according to act of the assembly brought hither to hand his age adjudged for conveying to this country without Indenture it is adjudged by ye court hereupon being of ye said servant that he is seventeen years of age and ordered that he serve his said master or his assigns according to act in that case made and provided." On 27 April 1727, Henry Darnel, acting as agent for His Lordship, Lord Baltimore, conveyed to Edward Darnel a portion of His Lordship's Manor at Zachia, situated in Charles Co., Md., for the period of three lifetimes - a period of ninety-nine years. This lease for 113 acres, stated present tenant Thomas Darnall, 11sh 3p rent. 4¹ 10sh fine. Life of Edward Darnal b 1714. From Brumbough's "Maryland Records, p 29, State of His Lordship's Manor of Zachaiah in Charles Co. Feb 1768. A lease date 11 Dec 1751, had Thomas and Edward Darnall as signers. A Lease 1 Jan 1754, to Edward Darnall, 48 Acres, present tenant Thomas Boaman, 7 sh rent. 1¹ 8sh fine for lives of Priscilla Darnall b 1736 and Lizzie Darnall b 1752.



The will of Edward Darnell, written 1751 and probated in 1754: In the name of God Amen I Edward Darnall of Charles County Planter being very weak and infirm in Body but of a Sound and perfect Memory and good Understanding (Thanks be to Almighty God for the Same) and calling to mind the Brevity and Uncertainty of this Mortal Life and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die do therefore make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following Vis - Imprimis I give and bequeaths to William Thomas, 1 negro man Jack, one cow with her future increase, one feather bed and furniture, to him and his heirs. My son Edward two cows and calves and hand mill which are mentioned to him in a bond; also one cupboard, to him and his heirs. My son William one feather bed with striped ticking and bolster, rugg, and two pillows to him and his heirs. My son Isaac my old gunn. The rest of my personal estate whether moveable or immovable to be equally divided among the rest of my children named as follows: Thomas, Mary, Sarah, and Elizabeth to them and their heirs. I constitute my son Edward executor. The surname of Edward, Sr's wife Sarah is established by her will, 1738, Bk 22, p. 359, Charles County, Maryland. SOURCES: 1. On April 27, 1727 Henry Darnel, agent for his lordship, conveyed to Edward a portion of the Manor of Zachia, Charles Co., MD. He died in 1754 and his will is summarized in the H. C. Smith Book.
