Edward "Eddie" Ellering

Eddie Ellering was born on the Ellering family farm on September 23, 1896 in Meire Grove, MN to Benard and Mary (Lois) Ellering.

The Ellering farm is located in the southern portion of Section 21 & 22 of Grove Township in Stearns County, MN.

The Ellering farm is designated a Century Farm in Minnesota - being operated by the Ellering family for more than 100 years.

On January 22, 1918, Edward "Eddie" Ellering married Wilhelmina "Minnie" Schoenberg at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove, MN.

Eddie Ellering is a brother to Mary Ellering - the wife of Joe Schoenberg. Minnie Schoenberg and Joe Schoenberg are siblings....so two Ellering siblings married two Schoenberg siblings.

Although a diffcult business to be in, especially during the prohibition years 1920 - 1933, Eddie and Minnie were the owner / operator of a bar in Greenwald, MN, called Ed's Place.

Eddie & Minnie Ellering had one child, Bernard A Ellering, born on February 5, 1929 in Greenwald, MN - eleven years after they were married.

While sleeping at his home in Greenwald, Eddie Ellering died at 2pm on Wednesday, January 5, 1949. He was 52 years old. He is buried on Saturday, Janaury 8, 1949 in St. Andrew's Cemetery in Greenwald, MN.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife of 31 years, Minnie Ellering; one son, Bernard A Ellering, 3 brothers, Tony, Alphonse, John "Jack" Ellering and 4 sisters, Mary (Joe) Schoenberg, Agnes (Lambert) Worms, Katie (Bernard) Athmann and Angie (Hubert) Bonemeyer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard "Ben" Ellering, in 1945.
