[Harned.GED] Edward is listed as a tailor in church records. They probably left England for the New World in search of religious freedom. From accounts they were persecuted for attending Quaker meetings and harboring Quakers: "June 29, 1658. Among those persons punished for attending a Quaker meeting at Nicholas Phelps' were Edward Harnett and wife. Some were indicted, Edward Harnett and wife Priscilla (Sysley was called Priscilla or Cecily in some records) are fined." from "Descendants of Lawrence and Cassandra Southwick of Salem, MA" "Edward Harnett, who was 69 years of age and his wife 73, constituted another of these families who suffered heavy fines, with little or nothing to satisfy them. They lived in Peabody, near the site of the City Hall. They sold their house, barn, and land Feb. 20, 1657-8, and disappeared." from "The History of Salem, Mass." by Sidney Pearley This family probably moved to Rhode Island or Long Island. His son who left around the same time, shows up later in Long Island by Harned GED
