Edward Joseph "Eddie" Joint
Edward "Eddie" Joseph Joint, age 89, of Millcreek, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at his residence. He was born February 18, 1923, the last surviving child of the late Albert and Gertrude Lynch Joint.
Eddie attended East High School before he entered the United States Army to serve our country during World War II. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, Easy Company 506, known as the "Band of Brothers" that invaded Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Among his many medals and accommodations he was awarded both the Bronze Star for valor, heroics, and bravery and the Purple Heart during his tour of duty.
He was a mail carrier that retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years. Eddie also worked many events at the Warner Theatre as a stage hand belonging to the Stage Hands Union #113. Ed was a longtime member and usher at St. Julia's Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sally Joint; four daughters, Jacqueline Enas, husband Robert, Christine Klug, husband Gordon, Linda Wilson, and Laura Phelps, husband Kevin; nine grandchildren, Charles Swantek Jr., Shawn Swantek, Aimee Voto, Melissa Zeches, Robert Moreland III, Jeremy Moreland, Eric Wilson, Erika Pluta, and Jeffrey Bresslin; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and sister-in-laws.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Home. Services will be held there on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Julia Church at 10 a.m.
Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Ed's family would like to thank Hospice of Metropolitan Erie, especially Shirley and Wanda who took wonderful care of Ed.
