Edward J. Karlin

Edward J. Karlin, 85, Hays, died Monday, June 6, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society of Hays.

He was born Dec. 21, 1930, in Hays to John A. and Pauline (Rohleder) Karlin.

He married Anita M. (Kuhn) on Oct. 26, 1957, in Catharine.

He farmed north of Catharine until retiring to Hays. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea. He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 9076, both of Hays.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters, Marie Wade and husband, Don, Dodge City, Elizabeth “Lisa” Karlin, Hays, and Patricia Havel and husband, Corey, Leavenworth; a sister, Margaret Karlin, Stamford, Conn.; and four grandchildren, Sam Culbreath, Taylor Wade, Alex Karlin and Grant Karlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Martha Culbreath; a brother, Alfred Karlin; and an infant sister, Pauline Karlin.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays; inurnment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. A vigil will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or Good Samaritan Society of Hays. Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of arrangements.
