Edward Rudd, of Knowlmere, Yorkshire, bur. 3 Sep 1667, Salidbum, name of wife t unknown. The will of Edward Rudd of "Knowhouse" was written 16 Dec 1664 (date of probate unknown). In the will he mentioned his daughters Ellen, Jane, Dorothy and Mary, the last two of whom were named joint executors. Also mentioned in the will were a certain Thomas Bond of Mostard and his eldest son John Bond (aged under 21), whose relationship (if any) to the deceased are unknown. It is not clear whether or not Edward Rudd ever joined the Quaker church, but all four daughters were early members of the Bolland Meeting, part of the Settle Monthly Meeting of Friends. He was related to many members of the group of Quaker immigrants to America which is commonly called the "Settle Group", and it was through the Rudd family that this group had most of their close genealogical ties. In the baptism record of his daughter Dorothy, he is called "of More End", another indication that there may have been a connection between him and Nicholas and Giles Rudd (mentioned above). 2. Jane Rudd, bom probably in 1620's, still alive 1696, md. 1st, probably in late 1640's, Richard Wain, md. 2nd, 31 8mo. (Oct) 1667, William Birket.

3. Dorothy Rudd, bap. 20 Apr 1633, Slaidburn, Yorkshire, md. 15 7mo. (Sep), Bolland Meeting, William Hayhurst.

4. Mary Rudd, bap. 14 May 1637, Slaidburn, Yorkshire, bur. 24 7mo. (Sep) 1686, PA, md. 28 8mo. (Oct) 1666, Bolland Meeting, Cuthbert Hayhurst.

Will of Edward Rudd of Knowhouse (sic - his burial record in the Slaidburn registers, 3 Sep 1667, gives Knowmeer), written 16 Dec 1664. To daughter Ellen; to daughter Jane; to Thomas Bond of Mostard; to John Bond (aged under 21), eldest son of Thomas Bond; to daughters Dorothy Rudd and Mary Rudd, joint executors. Witnesses: Richard Dugdall, John Parker, Christopher Raingill.
