About Edward Scarborough

Scarborough genealogy

- Generation 13

Edward Scarborough, Snr

b. 1660-1666

d. 1715-16

m. Ann Tagno

They had 6 children:

1. John 1693 - ? 2. Mary 1695 - 1783 3. William 1697? - 1736 (m. Sarah 1720 - ???) 4. Edward Scarborough, Jr 1700-1742 5. Benjamin 1702 6. Elizabeth 1704

They are also shown to have two more children : Nicholas and Richard. Additional information is unavailale at this time.

Records show that on the death of Edward, the Surray County VA Court ordered the Church Warden to bind out the children of Edward according to the law. (Apparently Ann was deceased and the children were probably minors). On the following February the Sheriff was directed to sell his estate at Public Auction.

Additional information provided by Maggie Shrull of Washington State (regarding Edward's daughter, Mary) is shown below. It conflicts slightly with the above, but is believed to be more credible due to reference quotes:

Col. Edmund Scarburgh had no son Edward, and certainly no son "Edward Littleton".

He did have a son Littleton Scarburgh, who was probably named by his godmother Ann (Southy) Littleton for her husband Col. Nathaniel Littleton - but the boy died in his early twenties, unmarried and without offspring.

This should probably be Edward, son of William Scarborough the Baconian rebel, who married an Ann Tagno and had a son William (named for his father, presumably).
