Edward J. Voth, 95, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Pleasant View Home in Inman.
He was born March 9, 1914, in Plains, to Henry and Mary Janzen Voth. He graduated from Bethel College with a degree in physics.
Mr. Voth started the Garden City Junior College football and track programs, where he coached for several years. He had worked for Kaiser Frazier Car Dealership, Newton, then was the owner/operator of Ed Voth Motors, Newton, which was a Lincoln Mercury dealership. A former member of Buhler Kiwanis and Newton Lions Club, he belonged to the Buhler Mennonite Church.
On Aug. 18, 1940, he married Ruth Roth in Whitewater. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, James Voth of Buhler and Mark Voth of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Suzanne Lara and Sally Company, both of Lawrence; a brother, Eldon Voth of Hutchinson; four sisters, Rosella Tracy of Wichita, Ann Bell of El Dorado, Helen Reynolds of Overland Park and Florence Conner of Belle Plaine; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Herman, Arnold, Leonard and Wilmer; and a sister, Leona Unruh.
