Birth record: June qtr, 1859, Hull, 9d/165 (ordered 25/5/05). Edward (2) is listed as living at 2 Postern Place, Kingston-upon-Hull in the 1861 census (and the same address is shown for his birth in 1859). At home were his brothers James H (15), Richard G (7) and sister Caroline A (12). In 1871, he was living with his mother and sister at 1 Park Terrace, Kingston-upon-Hull. His father James was absent on both occasions. Edward married Caroline Butcher (aged 19, spinster) at the parish church of St. Stephens, Hull on June 20th, 1881. Witnesses were James Butcher (father to Caroline) and Julia Edith Booth. In 1891, Edward (seaman), Caroline (aged 29) and their children Laura (8), Elma (4) and Bruce (1) were resident at 3 Ivy Grove, Kingston upon Hull. Note that 2 other Watson families from Hull were living nearby in the same street. Edward is not listed in the 1901 census and may have died (at sea?) between 1891 and 1901. Two of his children were living at the Hull Seamans and General Orpham Asylum although his wife Caroline was still alive and living in Sculcoates, Hull with 2 of his children. Info from Doreen Ball (genesreunited): North Sea Drowned off Norfolk Coast Body Found. Died 23 Oct 1896 at Burnham Norton, Norfolk.
