!Source 1820 Floyd,Oneida Co, NY & 1830 Rome, Oneida Co, NY (Federal Census) F.A. Bentley (Grandson of Thomas Bentley) reports that Edwin was the oldest brother of Eli A. Bentley (his father). Edwin (Ed) told Eli that he was foolish to enlist in the Union Army during Civil War. !F.A.Bentley papers show birthdate as 3 May 1823 in NY & death 14 Dec 1873 in Wisc.(He was killed by accident according to F.A.Bentley)

According to Joyce Cummings (Holland, IA) in rootsweb archive 26 Sep 1998, Edward (~1823) was living in Wells, Hamilton, County, NY in 1849 when he bought property. He later lived at Neeceday, Juneau, WI in the 1880's.
