About Harris, Edwin
Son of James Pascoe Harris (1771-1846) & Mary Roberts Good (1774-1850) of Plymouth, Devon, England. Edwin, an artist, surveyor, farmer and drawing master, and his wife Sarah nee Hill emigrated to New Plymouth, New Zealand, on the ship "William Bryan", arriving 30 March 1841. They were among the Taranaki Refugees evacuated to Nelson during the Taranaki Land Wars and chose to remain in Nelson for the rest of their lives. Copies of some of Edwin's paintings can be seen at the Puke Ariki website.
