By 1930, Grace is a widow, living in Barnet, and proprietor of the Barnet Inn. Congregational Church history of Barnet dated 1929 contains ad for Barnet Inn, proprietors given as "Howland and Howland". 1929 Directory for Littleton NH gives Edwin's death date: 1932 Directory for Littleton notes Grace K. Howland "rem. to Barnet VT". 1900 US census lists Edward L. Howland as adopted son of Henry W. Howland and Georgianna Howland.
