Edwin Birney Welsh

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, for Edwin Birney Welsh, 90 of Cadiz, who died Wednesday ( Dec. 29, 1999) at Union Hospital, Dover. The Rev. William Lawson will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at the Cadiz Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. He was born April 12, 1909, in Freeport, son of the late Frank M. and Dora (Birney) Welsh. Mr. Welsh was a compositor for 39 years at the former Cadiz Republican, now the Harrison News-Herald. He was a school bus driver for 24 years for Harrison Hill Schools. He was a member of Harrison County Historical Society, Harrison County Genealogical Society, First Families of Ohio and Ebenezer Zane Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter-in-law, Major Elbert Welsh and Rachel Welsh Keys; two brothers, William and Robert Welsh; and a sister, Mary Margaret Welsh. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth (Beck) Welsh; two sons, Dr. Kenneth Welsh of Detroit, Mich., and John (Debra) Welsh of Bath Township; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Meredith, Aaron and Adam Welsh.
