About Egon Roland Tausch
Born the eigth of nine children. Joined the Texas National Guard, rose to Corporal. Entered the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1922; graduated 1926. Served first in the Cavalry on the Mexican border in Texas. Spanish Cavalry School, Madrid, Spain, 1933. M.A. (Spanish Literature) University of Madrid, 1932. Instructor (Spanish), USMA, 1933. Served at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Presidio San Francisco, and Monterey, California. Military Attache assignments in Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay, before and during World War II. G-2 (Intelligence), Korea, during Korean War; Chief, Military District of Washington. Retired as full Colonel, 1956. Won Legion of Merit three times. Research Associate, Special Operations Research office, American University (collarborated on several published studies on Poland and the Soviet Union). Executive Director, Texas Council on migrant labor, Austin, 1959 - 1968. Rancher. Religion: Episcopalian. Restored his historic, 1840's ranch house at Still Waters Ranch, Bulverde, Comal County, Texas.
