About Elbert Watson "Shorty" Adams
Elbert Watson Adams was a loving, hardworking son, husband to Hazel Richardson Adams, and father to five children. He farmed all his life and worked a full-time job besides, often coming in to spend the time until dark working in the fields or with the cattle. Everyone at his work place, the old Clark County Hospital, where he was a maintenance man, called him "Shorty". He was only 5'4" tall but always walked like he was in a hurry and never saw a stranger. He had a heart attack and was in the VA Hospital but refused surgery and they released him the day we had an ice storm in 1984 that deposited about two inches of ice on everything, including the roads. I picked him up and he was so happy to be home, laughing and smiling all evening. Sometime in the night, he had another heart attack and passed away by the time they reached the emergency room.
