

A celebration of life service for Elbert Lenn Pace, 74, of Cadiz, was held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Alexander North Chapel in Evansville, Ind. Alexander North Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Pace died on Monday, July 9, 2012, at his home on Lake Barkley.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1938, in Evansville, Ind., to Clemor and Rebecca Pace.
Elbert graduated from Central High School in 1956 where he made many friendships that lasted his lifetime. After graduation he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps with his twin brother, Delbert. Elbert attended Evansville College and earned a BA and MA in Education. He was an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He met the love of his life, Annette Tapley, whom he married on June 15, 1963.
He began his teaching career at Farmersville Elementary School in Mt. Vernon, Ind. He continued his teaching career at Central High School where he taught science for 24 years, while also pursuing his passion of coaching football.
After retirement, Mr. Pace enjoyed many Mary Kay international trips with his wife, visiting his children and spending time at his beloved lake house with friends and family. He was made a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of the state, which is the highest title of honor bestowed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Elbert was preceded in death by his parents, Clemor and Rebecca Pace; and one brother, Gerald Pace.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Annette Pace; identical twin brother, Delbert Pace (and wife Jane Ann) of Cadiz; three daughters, Kymberlee Gilkey (and husband Lt. Col. Vincent Gilkey) of Honolulu, Hi., Kerry Pace of Arlington, Va., and Krista Lenn (and husband Patrick Murphy) of Chicago, Ill.; one son, Klint Elbert Pace of Evansville, Ind.; one granddaughter, Ruby Jane Murphy; one sister-in-law, Judy Pace of Evansville, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and his 98 year old father-in-law, Dr. Earl M. Tapley of Dunedin, Fla.
