Elbridge F. Whitfield, 63, Sumner rt. 2, passed away suddenly Wednesday at about 10 a.m. while on a business trip to Vincennes, Ind. He died in the Vincennes business district of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Whitfield lived in Olney for many years and attended Olney schools and was employed here for years before moving south of Sumner several years ago.
He was a welder by occupation, and for years operated the Whitfield Repair Shop. He retired from that business several years ago.
He was born in Browns, March 8, 1906.
Surviving is his wife, Velma Berry Whitfield; a son, Ernest Whitfield, at home; four sisters, Miss Lora Whitfield, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Zelda Brice, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Blanche Dawn of Olney, and Mrs. Lela Castillo, St. Louis, Mo.
He was a member of the Gilead Presbyterian Church.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Sivert Funeral Home, with Rev. L. E. Jackman officiating. Burial will be in Sumner Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday.
