On 11 June 1864 Eleanor charged George Perry with assault in Wellington Court. They later separated. George was drowned in June 1867 when his small boat, the 'Mary Alice' (after his daughter) was wrecked on the West Coast. He and two others, left Porirua on 13 June for Otaki. However, they were blown past Otaki by a strong south-easter. On 6 July, during a trip from Wellington to Wanganui, the steamer 'Rangatira' passed the wreck floating bottom upwards.

Still another old identity has passed away in the person of Mrs Thomas Bowler, of Johnsonville, who arrived in the colony in the ship Birman as far back as 1842. She resided at Johnsonville for over fifty years and was recognised as the 'mother' of that township.
