About Ebenezer Williams

Eleazar Williams moved to Lebanon, Conn and then to Stonington where he acquired land since knows as Williams' Hill where he built his residence within sight of that of his brother John. His home commanded a beautiful view of Long Island Sound and the surrounding country at the head of the Mystic River near the fort which was taken by Captain Mason from the Pequots in 1637. He died in 1725. There is some confusion as to the day, the 19th march, the 12th April and 19th May being each given. Eleazer Williams married Mary, daughter of Jonathan and Mary (Rediat) Hyde of Newton. He moved to Lebanon, Connecticut, and then to Stonington in 1712 where he purchased a large tract of land on Quoketaug Hill, built his residence within sight of that of his brother John. Eleazer's home commanded a most beautiful view of Long Island Sound and the surrouonding country, at the head of the Mystic River. Eleazer's wife, Mary Rediat Hyde, produced one son and five daughters. The son, Nehemiah, took over the farm on the summit of Quoketaug after the death of his father. Daughter Martha died at age three and Mary, Hannah, Elizabeth and Priscilla survived to maturity and marriage. He lived the remainder of his days in Stonington.
