Obituary taken from Creigtcn Newspaper. Elgurt F. Nelson of near Center Nebraska was killed in a runaway at Bazile Mills Monday. He had brought his brother Erudy to Creighton to take a train to Malmo, Nebr. and was returning home to his brothers? when near Bazile Mills the team became frightened and started to run , in an effort to stop the team of horses one of the lines broke and he was rendered helpless while passing a wagon near the flour mill he was thrown out of his buggy, his head striking the corner of the wagon box breaking it open and scattering his brains, death was instaneous. The body was picked up and cared for. His two brothers Emil A. and Edward . living near center were notified. They took his remains to Malmo Tuesday for burial. The deceased was 24 years old and a very happy and congenial disposition, he had gained the name of "Hap" Nelson and was well thought of by those who knew him and his untinely death is deplored by all. The old timers talked of Elgurt Nelson being kept in the ice house at Bazile Mills until his brothers could take him to Malmo for buriel, probably by team and wagon.. at was said at the time of his death he was engaged to be married in two weeks, bride to be's name unknown.
