Eli Gordon was the youngest child of Moshe Aharon and Deborah (Lipsky) Gordon. Curiously, he was named for the Vilna Gaon (Eliyahu). He married Esther, a woman fron Boston where both lived. They had one child, a son Herbert (Zvi Hersh). In the late 1920's, for reasons unknown to me, Eli became estranged from his family, and emigrated to Californis to seek his fortune. He was a successful clothing manufacturer in both LA and San Francisco. In 1946, he visited our family in Boston, and all were reunited. Over the years until he dies, he visited the family twice again, and in the early 60's, visited Macy and Hadassah Gordon in Teaneck, NJ. The family was notified of his death in 1966. We never heard from Esther or their son Herbert again. Some attempts were made by Edith Halpern to locate Herbert, (last known to have lived in Yucca, CAl and in Sacramento for a while. To my knowledge, the family does not know where he is, or even whether he is still living. He would be in his early 80's now. (Written by Macy Gordon May 2011).
