About Elias Pollak

Elias (Elijah) was a kosher butcher and a Fluchthauspaechter in Morina. He made potash in the house he leased by the river. He died 1833 in Morina in his 40's in house number 33 and had sons Hermann (Herschel) b 1815,Yitzhak born 1816 Jakob b 1818, Abraham 1821 Ignatz 1828 and daughters Rosalia b 1823 and Charlotte b 1824.

Elias died of bleeding from his lungs and was buried in the Morina cemetery.I haven't found the burial record yet. Jaroslav Klenovsky says that he may have been buried in Trebetov where he worked as a businessman.

He married Sara NEUMANN from Morina the daughter of Abraham NEUMANN a businessman from Morina and Rosalia STEINHART of Morina. The Familiant book records marriage in 1813 at the estate of Vysoky Ujezd.

In his will his son Dr Jacob Eduard Pollak left 100 gulden for the poor of Morina no matter what their religion and a further 100 Gulden for the upkeep of the cemetery where his parents were buried. They died before 1891 when he made his will.
