Birth: Jan. 25, 1863 Columbus Muscogee County Georgia, USA
Death: Aug. 25, 1863 Columbus Muscogee County Georgia, USA
Elias Rothschild was the second son of Frank Rothschild and Amanda Blun Rothschild. He died at age 7 months of Pneumonia.
NOTE: The headstone has the name spelled wrong as Rothschield and the date of death as July 21, 1863, but Sexton's list has the date as August 25, 1863.
Also, we just had what is still legible of the Hebrew script translated and it indicates that this child died in August, so I think that is a good indication that the August 25, 1863 is the correct date.
Inscription: "In Loving Memory of ELIAS ROTHSCHIELD, Born in Columbus, Georgia, January 25 and died July 21, 1863."
NOTE: The last name should have been Rothschild, not Rothschield and the date of death should be August 25, 1863, not July 21, 1863.
Burial: Linwood Cemetery Columbus Muscogee County Georgia, USA Plot: Jewish Section, Row 5, Grave 100

Grave marker for Elias Rothschild. Unfortunately, the inscription is nearly illegible, but according to cemetery records the English inscription reads, "In Loving Memory of Elias Rothschild, Born in Columbus, Georgia, January 25 and died July 21, 1863." The headstone is at the Columbus, Georgia Historic Jewish Cemetery (Linwood Cemetery) and appears to have been misspelled when it was erected, as it has the name listed as Elias Rothschield (with an extra "E") instead of Elias Rothschild. It also appears to have the wrong date of death too, listed as July 21, 1863 in the cemetery records, instead of August 25, 1863, as reported in Sexton's Report of Deaths, 1834-1866. I have not found any other records for a Rothschield family in Columbus, Georgia at that time.
