My dad told me he was 6ft 2 tall in the year of 1862 a very striking looking man who fought in the Philippi regiment from Philippi Wv during the civil war mustered in on Sept 10 1862 Company F 15th Wv he told me he was injured and later he came home.... he also was a farmer and lived in Swamp Run Barbour County Wv and as he aged he moved in with his son Daniel Cassius Skidmore until his death in Harrison County Wv....Buried with his wife in Bethany cemetary near Belington wv.....Listed descendants in a book Thomas Skidmore(Scudamore) 1605-1684 of Westerleigh-Gloucestershire-and Fairfeild-Connecticut his ancestors and descendants to the ninth generation by Warren Skidmore...Married Harriet Nov 27,1840.....Update.......After doing much research and reading I came across this information it is listed that Elihu/Elihue Skidmore is a child of John and Juda Skidmore in a documentation called Left Fork of Reedy It,s Earliest settlers and Their Families by John A House.....Roane County WV....I am going to do some more research.....to find more documentation......ok found another book Pioneers of Roane County ...going to read this book to see if I can get additional information.....Also documented in a book Confederate ,Union and Sympathizers of Barbour County Wv....lists parents and grandparents on both sides ....as well as civil war records for Elihu Skidmore and name listed as Elihue Skidmore in some census records....1789 in Randolph County, (West) Virginia, the son of Thomas (no. 56) and Eleanor (Ingram) Skidmore, and died 1859 at Belington, Barbour County, (West) Virginia.He married Juda (born 1793 in Fauquier County, Virginia), a daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Edwards) Pitman, on 13 February 1816 in Randolph County; she was a sister of the wife of his brother Samuel Skidmore (no. 143).

His home was on Tom's Run about 1 ½ miles west of Belington near Wilmouth Falls where he built a large, two- story log house.He patented land there in 1832 and 1834.He also acquired two tracts by purchase from his brother Thomas and another from Samuel P. Morral.He was living as late as 7 January 1859 when he gave a deed to his son-in-law Abraham P. Harris, but was dead before the 1860 census was taken in Barbour County.
