  • Elinor Aldridge is the third child of seven children born to William Aldridge I and his wife Elizabeth Ursula Symons in All Hollows Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
  • She married Thomas York about 1747 in Terrapin Neck, Colonial Fredericks County, Virginia (now Jefferson County, West Virginia) near the Potomac River.
  • Following the tragedies of the French and Indian War the York's migrated south west in a wagon train with other families down the Shenandoah Valley.
  • Then through the Appalachian Mountains at Roanoke, Virginia then south into colonial Orange (now Randolph) County, North Carolina and settled in the Sandy Creek Community.
  • Elinor Aldridge and Thomas York had seven children; six of which were born on their farm in Terrapin Neck, Colonial Fredericks County, Virginia (now Jefferson County, West Virginia).
  • Their youngest child was born in North Carolina.
  • Elinor is buried beside her husband in the Sandy Creek Baptist Church where she was a lifetime member.
