Eliphalet Whitaker

   Subject: Descendants of Eliphalet Whitaker

   I am interested in contacting any descendants of Eliphalet Whitaker of

   Georgia, born 1732 in Huntington, Long Island, New York. He migrated

   with his family to Somerset Co., New Jersey, and in 1777 bought a house

   and property in Chester Co, Pa. Around 1790 he again moved, this

   time to Georgia, taking most of his children with him. The children born

   to Eliphalet and Ruth Bayles Whitaker were:

   (1) Samuel Whitaker b. 26 Nov. 1756 married Mary Rivers, he died 2 Mar. 1783

   in Indiana (Samuel did not make the trip to Georgia with his family)

   (2) Elizabeth Whitaker b. 1758 married William Roy and Richard Hall

   (Elizabeth was already married and did not make the trip to Georgia)

   (3) Pheobe Whitaker b. 1760

   (4) Platt Whitaker b. 1762 left Georgia and went to Havre de Grace , Md

   He died in Zanesville, Ohio. Marries Ann Bayles

   (5) Benjamin Whitaker b. 17 March 1765 married in Ga. Ann Emanuel daughter

   of Gov. David Emanuel. He was long time Speaker of the Ga. House.

   He died 29 August 1821

   (6) Mary Whitaker b. 5 Agusut 1767 died 10 August 1825 Single

   (7) Nancy Whitaker b. 30 July 1769 died 10 September 1823 Single

   (8) Sarah Whitaker b. 1772 she married in Georgia Hugh Lawson and

   Robert Glenn

   (9) Nathaniel Whitaker b. 15 February 1775

   (10) Daniel Whitaker b. 14 May 1778 (Nothing is know of Nathaniel

   and Daniel. It was said that they went to South Carolina.)

   (11) Ruth Whitaker b. August 1780

   The children of Samuel Whitaker and Mary Rivers were:

   (1) Mary Whitaker b. 10 Dec. 1784 died 1870

   (2) Benjamin S. Whitaker b. 16 Feb. 1787 died 17 Oct. 1827 m. ?Gifford

   (3) Samuel Whitaker born 11 June 1789 died 16 May 1818

   (4) Phebe Whitaker b. 9 July 1792 died 22 April 1810

   (5) Elisha Whitaker b. 21 Feb. 1795 died Unknown m.Elisa M.Kinley, Ann Finley

   he was a druggist in Newark. N.J.

   Children of Platt Whitaker and Ann Bayles were

   (1) Sally B.W. Whitaker born 1793 m Henry Barnes of Havre de Grace

   (2) John Platt Whitaker b. 1795 m Harriet Myers lived in Zanesville, Ohio

   (3) Nathaniel B. Whitaker b. 1797 died 1844 Maryland m.Ann McPherson

   Lived in Maryland

   (4) Bennett Whitaker Born 1800 died 1862 m Jane Reed, lived in Zanesville, OH

   (5) Edwin Whitaker born 1802 died 1802 twin of Platt

   (6) Platt Whitaker born 1802 died 1802

   (7) Eliza Whitaker born 1805 died 1807

   (8) Mary Rogers Whitaker b. 1807 m. Dr. Isaac Spangler

   He was a prominent physician in Zanesville, Ohio

   (9) Alfred Eliphalet Whitaker b. 4 April 1812 died 1844 m Annie Rodgers

   He lived at Morristown, Ohio

   (10) Ruth A. Whitaker b. 1816

   (11) James Bayles Whitaker born 1817

   Children of Benjamin Whitaker and Ann Emanuel were:

   (1)Mary born 23 April 1796 in Georgia, died 1841m Thos. Clements

   (2) Elsa Elizabeth born 4 Mary 1798 died 4 april 1842 m. Charles McDonald

   (3) David Emanuel Whitaker b. 3 Feb. 1800 Georgia d. 25 Feb.1835

   married Margaret Patterson

   (4) Benjamin Eliphalet Whitaker b. 1 Feb. 1802 died 21 April 1823

   (5) Asenath Ann Whitaker b. 4 Marcy 1805 Ga. died 12 March 1883

   Married Arthur Cheatham

   (6) Nancy Whitaker born 1 April 1807 in Georgia m. Alex Daniels

   (7) Ruth Bayles Whitaker b. 24 June 1809 Ga. died 1 April 1816 Ga.

   (8) Eli Daniel Whitaker b. 21 Oct. 1811 Ga. deid c. 1852 in Alabama

   married Amelia Jane McCullar and Elizabeth Watters.

   (9) Rebecca Jane Frances Whitaker b. 6 Feb. 1815 died unknown

   married Hubert Bostick
