In December 1871 she killed her husband and was convicted to life in prison for that.
Elisabeth Ras and Pieter van Tongeren, the two plotted together with another man, the murder of the husband of Ras. Van Tongeren shot him with a rifle. After interrogation in the presence of the corpse she confessed. The case came three times before the Supreme Court; twice it was referred to another court, until, finally, the action was dismissed in cassation. Ras was pardoned in 1891 and arrived in 1893 Fri, Van Tongeren was pardoned in 1893
