About Eliza Wilson

Eliza Dodge was born in Newcastle, Maine on March 5th 1808 to parents Washington and Nancy (Perkins) Dodge. She married Samuel Wilson, of Edgecombe, Maine on the 6th of October, 1831 in Newcastle, Lincoln, Maine.

Eliza and Samuel's children:
i. Washington Dodge Wilson, b. at Newcastle, Sept, 1833 where he d. Sept, 1887. He m. 30 May, 1853, in Melbourne, Australia.
ii. Luther P. Wilson, b. and d. Oct., 1835
iii. Oliver B, Wilson, b. Oct, 1836, d. Feb, 1878; he m 16 Oct., 1867, in California.
iv. Annie J. Wilson, b. Dec, 1838; m. 25 May, 1861, at Boston, P. B. Haskins, and res. in Hartford. Conn.
v. Charles Edwin Wilson, b. Feb, 1841; m. in Sandoval, 111.; res. in Hartford, Conn.
vi. Delia E. Wilson, b. March, 1844, in Newcastle; is now Mrs, Delia E. Hidden, E. Providence, R. I.
vii. Mary Ava Wilson, b. 2 Dec, 1848; m. 2 Dec, 1867, Benjamin Dodge, of Edgecomb, Me., who was b. Nov., 1845, and d. 23 Dec, 1893, at Providence, R. I. He was the son of Benjamin and Margaret (Dodge) Dodge, of Edgecomb. Benjamin, Jr. was a farmer, brick manufacturer and merchant, and at the time of his death, postmaster at East Newcastle, Me. He owned that one third part of Col. Paul Dodge's farm which was given to his son Isaac, and which was bought from his heirs a few years since, so that it is now held by a direct descendant of Col. Paul, who by marriage recovered the Dodge name. They had children: 1, Myra B., b. 31 July, 1872, at Edgecomb; 2, Archie Hidden, b. 12 July, 1874, at Newcastle: 3, Arthur Eugene, b. 5 July, 1876. at N.
viii. Carrie Belle Wilson, b. March 1854; m at Wakefield, Mass.,. Sept., 1872, R. Frank Dodge, and res. at Perham Mills, Aroostook Co., Me.

June 1860 US census for Edgecomb, Lincoln County, ME lists: Samuel Wilson, 54, occupation: Farmer; Eliza Wilson, 52; Charles E. Wilson, 19, occupation: Laborer; Delia Wilson, 16; Mary A. Wilson,11; Cai-- B. Wilson, 6; Jen Wilson, 74. All residents born in Maine.

June 1870 US census, Edgecomb, Lincoln County, ME lists Benjamin Dodge Jr., 24; Mary A. Dodge, 21, b. Maine, occupation: Keeping House; Simon Dodge, 17, Farm Laborer. Living in the same dwelling in different household are Samuel Wilson, 64; Eliza D. Wilson, 62; Carrie Wilson, 17, attending school.

June 1880 US Census for Newcastle, Lincoln Co. Maine lists: Benjamin Dodge Jr., 39; wife - Mary A. Dodge, 31, b. Maine, occupation: Keeping House; children (all born Maine) Myra B. Dodge, 7; Archie H. Dodge, 5; Arthur E. Dodge, 3; mother-in-law - Eliza Wilson, 72.

In 1894 Eliza was living in East Newcastle, ME.
