Marriage 1 James Albritton (3) b: 17 SEP 1705 in York County, Virginia

   * Married: ABT. 1727 in York County, Virginia

* Note: James Albritton, son of Thomas and Agnes Albritton, was born in York County, Virginia,on September 17, 1705. His birth is recorded in the Charles Parish Register. He moved with his family from York County to Princess Ann County, Virginia in 1715. James married Elizabeth___________ in Princess Ann County around 1727. On the 6th of June 1731, James purchased 25 acres of land from Roger Fountain in Princess Ann County. In 1736, he acquired another tract of land on Kendal's Island in Princess Ann County. He sold this tract to William Weblin on March 13, 1741. James also owned another tract of land jointly with John Burfoot. This tract was sold to John Bushby on November 6, 1746. After the sale of this land, James and Elizabeth moved to North Carolina. Elizabeth is believed to have died soon after the move to North Carolina. On arrival in North Carolina, James bought a tract of land in Beaufort County, North Carolina on March 11, 1744 from William Stafford. This tract was sold in 1750 and James moved to Onslow County, North Carolina. James married again after the death of Elizabeth to Amy__________. On January 16, 1750, James purchased 90 acres of land and on October 8, 1751, he bought another 110 acres of land. These two tracts were sold by him on April 3, 1752 to John Christian Heidleburg. In return Heidleburg sold to James another tract of 320 acres on the same day. James sold this land to a James Gray of Maryland on July 10, 1755. While in Onslow County, James served as a Lieutenant in the Militia in 1754. James Albritton then returned to Beaufort County and purchased a tract of 500 acres from David Cannon on February 27, 1756. This land was part of Old Beaufort County that was given to Pitt County in 1760. James Albritton was a Plantation Owner, Planter, and a Saddler by virtue of saddlers tools willed to him by his father. The 500 acre plantation was sold by James on March 4, 1769. On the same day, James bought three more tracts of land totaling some 580 acres. James did not live much longer after this purchase fopr he was dead by 1774. He left a will but it was lost when the records of Pitt County were destroyed. James and his two wives had at least seven male children. The first five were by Elizabeth and the last two were by Amy. Evidently, there were female children but no record of James are estimated based on circumstantial evidence as no exact evidence of their birthdates have been found.
