About Elizabeth Arnold

Elizabeth married Samuel Arnold on 12 Nov 1632 in Barnstable, Yarmouth, Massachusetts, USA. (Samuel Arnold was born in 1622 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, USA and died on 1 Sep 1693 in Marshfield, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.)

The source asserting birth date for both Elizabeth and Samuel is:

  • 8. OneWorldTree (Online publication - Provo, UT, USA: MyFamily.com, Inc. ).

Uncertain what the primary source for the information is...

Here is some different information. Torrey's New England Marriages prior to 1700 records a marriage for Samuel Arnoll to Elizabeth (unknown) in Yarmouth sometime before 1649. Samuel was most likely born in England. His death record from 1693 gives his age at time of death as 71, so born in 1622. The first record of him in New England is 1643 in Sandwich. The reason to believe that his wife may have been Elizabeth Biddle, daughter of Joseph, is that in his will Joseph Biddle left a cow to Samuel Arnold. There are no children of Joseph Biddle recorded as born in New England and so the parentage of Elizabeth is rather up in the air. Joseph Biddle would have to have married and had children and brought children with him to New England when he came in 1635 and so far there is no record of that.
