About Elizabeth Bacon

Elizabeth Hancock was born 1 May 1686 at Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts to Nathaniel Hancock and Mary Prentice. She died on 2 March 1749 at Medford, Middlesex, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Hancock (1638-1719) and Mary Prentice (1641-1709). Elizabeth (Hancock) (Wyman) Bacon is buried at First Burial Ground, Woburn, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, USA. Elizabeth married twice.

  1. First, to Benjamin Wyman (1674 to 1735), son of Francis Wyman & Abigail Reed, on 20 Jan 1702/3; they had 15 children.
  2. Elizabeth Hancock 2nd married Jonathan Bacon (1672 to 1754), son of Michael Bacon & Sarah Richardson, on 22 Sept 1739 in Woburn, his 2nd wife; he was Elizabeth Giles widower. No children by 2nd husband.

  • According to The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Nathaniel Hancock had 2 daughters named Elizabeth; the first lived from 1677 to 1678, while the other was born in 1686.
  • There is no evidence that Elizabeth's middle name was Prentiss/Prentice, as has been claimed elsewhere.
