About Elizabeth Carey, Baroness of Hunsdon

From thePeerage.com:

Elizabeth Spencer was the daughter of Sir John Spencer and Katherine Kitson. She married, firstly, George Carey, 2nd Baron Hunsdon of Hunsdon, son of Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon of Hunsdon and Ann Morgan, on 29 December 1574, by licence from the Archbishop of Canterbury. She married, secondly, Ralph Eure, 3rd Lord Eure, son of William Eure, 2nd Lord Eure, after March 1612. She was buried on 2 March 1617/18 at Westminster Abbey, Westminster, London, England. She died intestate and her estate was administered on 20 March 1617/18, as late of St. Anne, Blackfriars, London.

Elizabeth Spencer was the second daughter and sixth child of Sir John Spencer of Althorpe (d. 1586) and Katherine Kytson. On December 29, 1574, she married George Carey, 2nd Baron Hunsdon (1547-September 9,1603). Her second husband was Ralph, 3rd Baron Eure (September 24,1558-April 1,1617), to whom she was "newly married" in January 1613. Like her sisters, she was a patron of the arts and received dedications from Edmund Spenser and Thomas Nashe. She is said to have inspired Nashe to write his Muiopotmos (1590) when he saw her sitting at her loom. John Dowland, the musician, wrote "My Lady Hunsdon's Puffe" for her. She had one child, Elizabeth Carey (May 24,1576-April 23,1635). Elizabeth was buried in Westminster Abbey on March 2,1618. Biography: Oxford DNB entry under "Carey [Carew], Elizabeth." Portrait: a miniature by Nicholas Hilliard which has been mislabeled “Catherine Carey, wife of Lord Hunsdon.”
