About Elizabeth Carmichael

Sometime after her first husband Charles Chapman's death by drowning in the Port Adelaide yachting regatta on 31 December 1860, Eliza went to Victoria where she married James O'Neill, owner of the cattle run from Mount Fraser to Pretty Sally around Wallan Wallan, 50 km north of Melbourne.

Until the early 2000s, 1.5 acres of this property in Wallan Wallan township where the homestead stood until it was demolished during the Great Depression was still held by the family. It was then sold to a local real estate agent who promptly resold it for redevelopment.
