Mrs. Anna Callahan.

On Tuesday, April 17, Mrs. Anna Callahan, beloved wife of Mr. M. J. Callahan, departed this life at her home near Scammon, Kans. Mrs. Callahan was born at Arlington, Ill., Feb. 22, 1859, and came to the county in 1870.

On Nov. 14, 1875, she was united in marriage to Mr. M. J. Callahan. To this union was born the following children: Sisters Rita and Sylvia of Atchison, Kans., Daniel J. of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. D. Vernor of St. Louis, Chas. D. of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Raleigh Welsh of West Mineral, John and Florence of Kansas City, James M., George A., Mary C., Anna E. and Paul at home. Rose A. having died in infancy.

One sister, Mrs. N. McDonald, and three brothers, James, Joseph and John also mourn her loss.

Funeral services were held from St. Bridget's church on Friday, April 20, at 10 a.m., interment was made in St. Bridget's cemetery, where a large concourse of friends paid their last sad respects to the departed.

Mrs. Callahan was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, and death takes from our midst one of the best known and most estimable women of the entire community. Her host of friends was only limited by the number of her acquaintances, for everyone with whom she came in contact became her warm and cherished friend. Mrs. Callahan's sterling character was reflected in her every action throughout her entire life. She believed and did the things that go to make up a beautiful life, a useful citizen, a kind mother, and a loving wife.
