Pg87 "Among the proprietors who drew house-lots in Sippican, the first mentioned is Mrs. Elizabeth Ellis, a widow, whose husband, John Ellis, of Sandwich, died in 1677. In1687 Mrs. Ellis was living on her land in Sippican, but her descendants two or three generations later were clearing lands and breaking up the virgin soil in the Ellis neighborhood of Mattapoisett."
