About Elizabeth Filkins

Mrs. T. H. Filkins.

Mrs. T. H. Filkins passed, away at 7:30 Saturday morning at her home in Waterloo township near Virden's Grove, after a lingering illness from stomach and liver trouble. Her age was 62 years.

For twenty years she has been a member of-the First M. E. church and funeral services will be conducted from the home by Rev. F. L. Lovelarid at 2:00 O'clock Monday afternoon. Interment be made at Elmwood.

Mrs. Filkins was an old resident of Black Hawk County, having lived at the present family home since 1869, with the exception of five years when she lived in Waterloo.

Elizabeth Trowbridge was born in Lawrence County**, N. Y., October 10, 1843, and came to Iowa in 1857. She was married to Theodore Filkins in Waterloo during the year 1862, and seven years later they moved to the farm where they resided until the time of her death.

There remain to mourn her death three brothers and a sister, William T. Trowbridge of Carroll, Iowa, Nelson Trowbridge of Sanborn, Iowa, Rufus Trowbridge, living in Nebraska. The sister is Mrs. William Morris, living at Cedar Falls.

The children who survive her are: John and Charles Filkins of Tracy, Minnesota, William Filkins of Ellsworth, Minnesota; Mrs Fred Glasier of Lucian, Minnesota; Mrs. Henry Brown of Jesup, and Mrs. Archie Campbell, who lives on the home farm.

A son Ralph died in Waterloo during October, 1902
