In short, Eliza (that is how she signed her name on one of the marriage certs) married Robert Younger
on November 19 1844 and then married him again on June 15 1845.
The second ceremony (at a different church) was deemed necessary
because there was some doubt about the legitimacy of the first wedding ceremony.
The details of this are not known.
In Feb 1865, Robert Younger submitted to the courts a petition for divorce
on the grounds that his wife had left him for a man named William Smith.
She had started the relationship in October 1852 and had been living with him ever since.
Divorce appears to have been approved.
Eliza never married William but had a son to him in 1858. [*********]
This is Burton Gooch Smith.
Robert Younger remarried in 1871, to a Matilda Hughes,
with whom he lived in Bethnal Green until his death in 1896.
Two children came from the Younger-Gooch marriage:
Ellen Elizabeth Gooch (born 1845, died 1856) and Frank Sherlock Gooch (born 1851).
Frank went to live with his grandparents following the dissolution of his parents' marriage.
Addresses for Robert Younger and William Smith at the time of the divorce are given in the divorce petition. William denied the adulterous relationship, at least during the court hearings in 1865.
