Harris Family Bible states that this Rowland Harris, SON of West Harris Sr. and Mary Turner, married Elizabeth Kimball and their first son Daniel Harris was born in Montgomery County in 1785, making the approximate date of their marriage to be about 1783, about the same time that Sarah Daniel married a Rowland Harris in Granville County.

“SAR Application #82730 for William Norwood Riley, descendant of John Wesley Harris show that his mother's maiden name was Kimball. That is consistent with copy of his brother Daniel Harris' family bible that also shows that his mother was Elizabeth Harris.“

DAR disputes this identification and has Roland Harris’ wife as Sarah Daniels.

“Elizabeth Kimball is the real and only wife of Rowland Harris 1754-1815 although Several Ancestry Member Trees list his first wife Sarah Daniel and some show first wife as Elizabeth Betsy Reavis instead of Elizabeth Kimball. In reality it was his nephew Rowland Harris 1764 who married in Granville, NC in 1794. His first wife was Sarah Daniel and it was they who were married 21 August 1783 in Granville and his second wife was Elizabeth "Betsy" Reavis, married 09 Nov 1794 in Granville. The two Elizabeths are not the same people, and neither are the two Rowlands.“
