Elizabeth Maddison

The pedigrees from which Elizabeth's profile were constructed (I assume they exist but they were not added as a source) did not have dates for most of her descendants. But there are a few (with solid death dates) from which we can build a network of approximate dates. These are the profiles that contribute to those dates:

• William Maddison
• Joan Maddison
• William Maddison
• Sir Edward Maddison, MP

When the dates are worked out, Elizabeth Belasyse must be born a generation earlier than the pedigrees give credit for, around 1310, 1315 at the latest. The Belasyse tree is also constrained by some dates as well, so options that would preserve the original arrangement of Elizabeth being the daughter of William seem impossible to achieve with what is known.

Another solution to this problem, and indeed the most likely way an error crept in, may be due to confusion between two different generation of Thomas Maddisons - a father and a son. I've therefore added a son Thomas Maddison who married a first cousin Elizabeth Belasyse. I'm still waiting to see the sources before deciding if this profile should be retained or discarded entirely. If it is discarded, the Maddison descendants of Robert would not be descended from the Belasyse family at all, which is why I hesitate and want to see the sources.
