Elizabeth Mason

ELIZABETH3 CHANDLER (John 2 William) and Robert Mason, Roxbury, Mass.

Family tradition has it that "a drummer who was killed in battle in Cromwell's army left three sons by the name of Robert, John, and Nathaniel, who all emigrated to America. The son, Robert Mason settled at Boston and there for a time followed the trade of stay- maker, and afterwards that of tailor. He had a son by the name of Robert Mason, who married three wives; by the first he had Robert, by the second he had Abigail Mason, and by the third wife he had Benjamin, Edmond, and Josiah Mason.

Robert Mason, who m. Elizabeth Chandler, was a grandson of the "drummer."

John Chandler, Sen. of Roxbury, 29 March 1686, gave security that his Son in Law Robert Mason, with his family, should not be Chargeable to the Town. "1678 month 2 day 14, Elizabeth Chandler took hold on ye Covenant y day [Eliot Chh. Rec., Roxbury]

She d. in Roxbury 17 Nov., 1688 in her 27th year.

The children of Elizabeth and Robert Mason were:

• i Robert Mason, b. 12 Jan., 1683- 4; bapt. 20 January, 1683- 4 in Roxbury.; d. 5 Sept. 1739 at Ashford, Conn.; m. first Mary-. She died 1 Feb., 1711 [Woodstock, Conn. Rec.]; m. second 15 Nov., 1711, Hannah Holmes, both of Woodstock.
• ii, Elizabeth Mason, b. in Roxbury; d. 1686
• iii John Mason, b. 4 July, 1687; d. in a few days.

John Chandler (ca Jul 1634-15 Apr 1703) & Elizabeth Douglas (26 Aug 1641-23 Sep 1705), in Roxbury, MA.402 Born on 20 Feb 1661 in Roxbury, MA.402 At the age of 4, Elizabeth was baptized in Roxbury, MA, on 25 Apr 1665.402 Elizabeth died ca 1691 in Boston, MA.402 Their children include:
