These notes are from The Story of Yea. In 1860, Mr.Ker and the rector, the Rev. Singleton, wrote to the Bishop, asking for the management of the Yea school to be taken over completely by the Denominational Board and including a list of the 26 children attending the school at the time. Their ages ranged from 5 to 15 and the religious adherence of each child was tabulated, being fairly evenly devided between the Presbyterian and Anglican churches, with the sole exception of eight year old Elizabeth McASEY (catholic).
