Elizabeth Tyrwhitt was the daughter of Sir Robert Tyrwhitt of Kettleby, Lincolnshire. She married William Monson, son of Sir John Monson and Dorothy Meres.

On the 11th October, the King was at Kenby, or Cainby, the seat of Mr. Tourney, who had also married a Taylboys. On the 12th he was at Mr. John Monson's, at South Carlton, near Lincoln. This gentleman, then an aged man, appears to have been knighted on this and died on the 26th May following. His son and heir, William Monson, had married Elizabeth, daughter of this Sir Robert Tyrwhitt, of Kettleby, and Maud Taylboys his wife, and by her was great-grandfather of the first Lord Monson, created a peer in 1727. The inscription on the tomb of her husband, in South Carlton church, is here given, from Harl. MS., No. 6829:
Hic jacet Willūs Munson Arm' qui
obit 15° die Octobris A.D. 1558 et
Elizabetha uxor ejus filia Roberti Tirwhit
Militis que obiit 8° die Octobris Ao Dni

Sir Robert Tyrwhitt, the only son of Wiliam Tyrwhitt and Anne Constable, was knighted, and sheriff of Lincolnshire, 15 Hen. VIII. and by his wife, the daughter of Sir Gilbert Tailboys, of Kyme, in com. Line. Knt. had issue, three sons; and six daughters;
